Be Apart of the Community with Best. Week. Ever!

May 30, 2017

Hello Hoosiers and special visitors, Jordan again. It’s Tuesday, it’s the Best. Week. Ever and today’s schedule is sure to not disappoint. Begin your day at Oliver's Inn with the Best Breakfast Ever from 8-9:30a.m. where for $12 you get a gourmet breakfast, 2 pastries, fresh fruit, juice, tea or coffee. Trust me you will need that second cup of coffee to keep up with all the events going on today.

Like at the Purdue Polytechnic Open House at IUSB from 10-12p.m. During this event, you can expand your horizons by touring classrooms and labs all while getting to know faculty, staff, and current students. This is a great opportunity for juniors and seniors in high school to network and get a head start on their careers. As a college student I would highly recommend this event.

Take a lunch break and swing on over to the Best Lunch Ever at the South Bend Museum of Art from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. where CJ’s Pub has donated 5 oz versions of their famous cheeseburgers which are free for the first 150 people! Fun fact: these cheeseburgers are rated with 5 stars on The Food Network’s website. The Best Lunch Ever does not stop there. Enjoy a lunchtime concert that is in partnership with The Music Village.  Also, enjoy FREE admission to all exhibitions and The Dot Shop.

Stick around the South Bend Museum of Art because at 12:45 p.m. they are hosting Hands of Unity Across the Community. At 1:15 p.m. everyone who wishes to attend will link hands and stand together as one. This is a powerful cause that focuses on improving community health needs and fighting against obesity and diabetes.  Don’t forget to stop by and say HI to the Best. Week. Ever staff who will be at the museum selling our premium tees and posters till 1:30.

Don’t just be apart of our community but get to know our community at Morris Performing Arts Center at 3p.m. and meet Ann Nyberg. Ann is a South Bend native, now Connecticut resident, as well as an award winning television reporter and author. She will share tales of growing up in South Bend, mixed with her stories about the glamorous Hollywood legend, Katharine Hepburn. Now that will be an interesting conversation!

Also, don’t miss out on making your mark in South Bend with the Best Mural Ever from 4-8p.m!  The new mural will be hung in the Southeast Neighborhood and will be constructed with panels that you can help paint at LangLab. I know our staff will be there selling our merchandise, so make sure you are!

Now for my competitors, the Best Home Run Derby Ever at Byers Softball Complex from 5-6p.m. is an event you don’t want to miss. This event includes a home run contest today, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. With the winner from each night competing on Sunday to determine the overall champion and win a wooden baseball bat! Make sure to bring your own pitcher. Also, is costs $10 for 10 swings.

Now get your nerd on, dress up as your favorite superhero and head on out to the Best Comic-Con Ever at the Well Coffee House from 5-7p.m. Tickets will be $5 at the door or $2 with costume. Admission for children is free. I know I will be there! Question is will you?

I know my music enthusiasts will enjoy the Best. Week. Ever. Michiana Songwriter Forum hosted by The Palais Royale from 5-8p.m. This event is sponsored by the Morris Performing Arts Center and Lampkin Music Group and is the perfect event for musicians, songwriters, poets and anyone who just loves to jam out.

When 6p.m. rolls around be prepared for some serious fun! To start with you can enjoy Belly Burst, which is a SUB-1K run/walk/crawl powered by thousands of doughnuts and plenty of comfy couches. Possibly making it the shortest and easiest "run" you’ll ever attempt for $20 at Studebaker Complex. Or stop by the MLK Recreation Center and prepare to be entertained by the South Bend Kids Got Talent Showcase for just $5 per person. And let's not forget about Opera Open Rehearsal at LangLab for their upcoming production, L’elisir d’Amore, or The Elixir of Love. So whether you want to feed your stomach, heart, or soul these events are worth checking out. Plus, the Best. Week. Ever staff will be at all three events! So make sure to stop by and say HI.
