Hello Hoosiers and out of towners, TGIF! So get pumped because this is not just a regular Friday. It is a Friday loaded with entertainment and lively fun. It is also Best. Week. Ever and the kick off of First Fridays, so hold onto your seat belts because today is going to be one crazy fun ride.
I recommend starting your day either at the Best Rain Garden Ever at North Shore Triangle Neighborhood from 9-11am or at Farming the City: Best Permaculture Workshop Ever at Good Shepherd Montessori School from 10a.m.-2p.m. Both experiences will teach you more about agriculture and understanding what nature has to offer. Also, make sure to wear your work attire including boots and gloves and be ready for some fun.
You can also try your luck at the Best ATM Ever at Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. This event will take place from 11:30-1p.m. and 4-7p.m. There you will pick up a lego ATM card and then join us outside of their Downtown Branch where a special ATM made from thousands of LEGOS will take your card in exchange for some cool prizes!
Also, enjoy Fridays by the Fountain from 11:45a.m.-1p.m. at the Morris Performing Arts Center. There you will hear the Irish inspired music from Kennedy's Kitchen. It is one event that is sure to be an earful...but in a wonderful way! Also, the Best. Week. Ever staff, myself included, will be there so stop by and say HI!
Now an event you have all been waiting for makes its glorious return. The Riverlights Music Festival at Seitz Park will take place all day today from 12-10p.m. So make sure you are there and be ready for some great live entertainment!
Who says work can’t be fun? Not me! So check out the Best Office Ever, located under the State Theater Marquee from 12:30-5p.m. This event is tailored to bring the inside outside. So spend the afternoon working in the most non-office, office. From there you will enjoy fresh air and interactive art while finishing out your work week. Also, the space will have electric hookups (bring your laptop) and Wifi (thanks City of South Bend!).
Now rev those engines because you can be one of the first to sit in and meet some of the biggest trucks on the road. So drive on over to the Best Library Truck Event Ever at St. Joseph County Public Library (Main Branch) from 4-8p.m. There you can register for the summer reading program and get a free shirt while supplies last. Or head on over to Touch a Truck Presented by Century Builders at Howard Park from 5-9p.m. The biggest and baddest trucks around, along with the Best. Week. Ever staff, will be there. Question is will you?
Take me to the river and experience the Best Live Art +Fashion Ever VIP Bash all under one roof in the historic Emporium Building with A.R. Drew Art! This event starts at 5p.m. so don’t be late because Anna Ryan Drew will be painting live. There will also be a boutique shop, sip your champs from the CASH BAR, and the opportunity to collect some unique art. You are bound to have the BEST time ever.
Today is the last day for the Best Home Run Derby Ever at Byers Softball Complex until the championship game on Sunday. This competition takes place from 5-6p.m. so make sure you are there and ready to hit it out of the ballpark. Everyone is welcome and it costs $10 for 10 swings.
It is your kids time to shine at First Fridays: Kids Night Out in Downtown South Bend. This event is from 5-9p.m. and is jam packed with downtown businesses hosting activities and specials for kids.
I also think you and your little ones will enjoy ROC Ur Body at Howard Park from 5-9p.m. This event includes family fun activities, dancing, playing, and learning. Also, tons of vendors will there, providing information on health, wellness, and fitness. The Best. Week. Ever staff will even make an appearance so stop by our tent and say HI! We are selling some cool merchandise and giving away free stuff.
In addition, I think your family will have a blast at Meet Me on the Island where you will be immersed in art, music by Billy 'Stix" Nicks and The Motown Machine, refreshments and mingling. You’ll be dancing all night. This event takes place from 5:30-9p.m. at the Century Center. Also, admission is $5 (kids under 12 get in free).
Now get your adrenaline pumping because the next two events are all about testing your limits. So head on out the the East Race Waterway where you can raft from 5:30-7:30p.m. for just $5 a ride. Or swing on over to Leeper Park Tennis Center, and play the Best Tennis game ever from 5:30-8p.m.
