Halfway There #BWE2017

Hello friends! We have made it past the halfway point during the Best.Week. Ever, but not to fear there are so many more fabulous events to come! In fact, today is jam packed with fun activities for everyone.

 

And the best way to start your day is with Oliver Inn’s Best Breakfast Ever, where you can get a gourmet breakfast, 2 pastries, and an assortment of fresh fruit. You can also quench your thirst with some juice, tea, or coffee all for $12. This breakfast takes place from 8-9:30a.m. and it’s the last day so make sure you don’t miss out!

 

Also, head on over to Studebaker Plaza from 11a.m.-1:15p.m. to celebrate the kickoff to our Red Table Plaza Lunchtime Concert Series. This special lunchtime concert will be luau-themed  and features performances by The Grooveheads - formerly the Sandbar Bums. This is an event  you won’t want to miss. Plus the Best. Week. Ever staff, myself included, will be there so stop by and say HI.

 

Or try out Joe’s Best Lemonade Stand Ever at the Key Blank Plaza from 11a.m.-2p.m. Enjoy an ice-cold Jones Soda Berry Lemonade. When life serves you lemons …Jones Obenchain, LLP makes lemonade! And we, at the South Bend Venues Parks & Arts Department, design awesome tees and posters so come check us out!

 

Now for my car fanatics, history buffs, and anyone who has been craving to ride in an old studebaker, visit the Studebaker National Museum from 2.-6:45p.m. Enjoy a ten-minute tour of South Bend that will include historic Studebaker sites. Also, guests may ride in groups of up to three and a $5 per person donation is encouraged (cash only). Children must be 8 years old or older to ride.

 

Drum roll please....for the first time EVER you are allowed on the Morris stage for the Best Week Ever Talent Display. This event takes place from 3-8p.m. and is full of live musical performances from top local talent and tours offered by the Morris Performing Arts Center. Also, the Best. Week. Ever staff will be there selling our signature merchandise. So stop by and you might get a prize.

 

Or take a load of at the Best Picnic Ever from 3:30-6:30p.m. at Potawatomi Park where you will be immersed in fun! Free food, bounce houses, rock climbing, musical performances by John Adams High School band and choir, an animal parade and much much more await at this family friendly event. Also, the Zoo will offer reduced admissions from 2:30- 5:30 p.m. and will be open to 6 p.m. that evening.

 

Then go ahead and work off all that free food you have been eating all week with the Best Fitness Class Ever at Howard Park from 4:30-8:30p.m. Or with the Best Basketball Skills Challenge Ever at the  MLK Recreation Center from 5-6:30p.m. And if you're feeling ambitious I challenge you to try them both.

 

Or bring out your competitive side for day 3 of the Best Home Run Derby Ever at Byers Softball Complex from 5-6p.m. This competition is open to all and the championship game will be played on Sunday to determine who will win the grand prize: a wooden bat from the Cubs. Just a friendly reminder it cost $10 for 10 swings.

 

Now take charge with the Best Empower Hour Ever at South Bend Brew Werks from 5:30-7:30p.m. Girls on the Run Michiana will celebrating an incredible season with thanks to all of their AMAZING volunteers and supporters. This event is for all ages and SBBW will be serving a GOTR-inspired beer cocktail, and food and drink will be available for purchase.

 

Also, make sure to stop by the Palais Royale for their 9th annual Wine into Water from 5:30-8:00p.m. This will be a fun evening with wine from different Indiana distributors and includes live music by Jack Gregory. This event benefits Water For People. Tickets are $40, and every ticket helps. Water for People provide safe drinking water to 3rd world countries. If you want to purchase tickets click here.

 

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case it is worth 150 years of literature. So come out and celebrate The History Museum’s “Best. Moment-in-Time. Ever. from 6-8p.m. So pull up your favorite lawn chair or grab a picnic blanket and relax in the Historic Oliver Gardens.  Also, you can also vote for your favorite tableau vivant (think freeze-frame), presented by community organizations. There will also be a beer garden, a contest to determine which local bakery has the Best. Cake. Ever, plus rides in vintage Studebakers for $5.

 

Also the second day of Best Spirit Ever is happening at City Wide Liquors from 6-7p.m. The Exchange and Café Navarre will be battling it out with a cocktail making competition and all proceeds go to the charity of the bartender’s choosing.

It’s that time of year for another amazing Riverlights Musical Festival. So check out Seitz & Sounds Open stage in Seitz park from 6-11p.m. This is the only non-ticketed music festival so take advantage and head on out! Also, make sure to stop by and say HI to all the Best. Week. Ever staff who have some cool prizes and merchandise we think you’ll love!

 

Now get loud, get proud, and swing on over to the Best Pride Month Kick Off Ever at Seitz Park from 6:30-9:30p.m. There you can explore South Bend's featured events for pride month. There will even be life-sized blackjack to give you a little tease of what you can expect at this year's casino-themed Pride Prom. You'll have a chance to win discounted tickets to prom and other fun prizes.
